  19.     ChessMAGIC! is distributed in .ZIP format. Use PKUNZIP to extract
  20.     the files. First create the directory where ChessMAGIC! is to reside,
  21.     then use PKUNZIP to extract the files.  Always overwrite files if
  22.     upgrading from a previous version.

  24.     WARNING!!! Do not change the names of either executable CMAGIC.EXE or
  25.                CMAGICX.EXE. ChessMAGIC! will run in UnREGISTERED mode if
  26.                the names are changed or the files tampered with.

  31.     There are currently two release versions of ChessMAGIC!, 1) ANSI version 
  32.     and 2) GRAPHICS version. The ANSI version is distributed as CMAGInnn.ZIP
  33.     (where nnn = version number). The graphics version is distributed as
  34.     CMAGXnnn.ZIP (where nnn = version number). Either of these versions
  35.     may be downloaded from KnightWare BBS. The graphics version provides
  36.     graphic menus, board and chess pieces.

  42.       CMCom     ChessMAGIC! Remote Graphical Interface. Permits the remote
  43.                 users to have a graphical interface to ChessMAGIC!. Requires
  44.                 a minimum of EGA, mouse support. Available now.

  46.       CMReader  ChessMAGIC! Graphical offline game reader. Reads short
  47.                 of long algebraic from text files.  Available now.
  48.  
  49.       CMFont    Customize the board and piece colors to either CMReader,
  50.                 CMCom or ChessMAGIC! graphics. Available now.

  52.       Solo      This is the player versus computer module. This is a  
  53.                 standalone product and does not require ChessMAGIC!.

  59.     Anyone using a version prior to version 2.01, will be required to run
  60.     GAMECHG.EXE before installing and running a new version. The game files
  61.     *.mve are not compatible with this version and will not be recognized.
  62.     The afore mentioned program will convert the game files. If this program
  63.     is not found in this archive, it may be obtained from Atlanta Chess BBS.
  64.     It is found in file area 1 as CONVERTG.EXE (self-extracting archive).

  70.     If you haven't received your new registration card by mail, please 
  71.     contact KnightWare before installing version 2.01 or higher. The 
  72.     registration  recognition is different and it requires your special 
  73.     registration key! If you attempt to run it without the new key, it 
  74.     will run as the unregistered version.

  81.     Turn OFF your line wrap toggle.  When ON, Qmodem users have told us
  82.     about trouble with wrapping.  This doesn't happen with other
  83.     communications programs (i.e. Telix, Procomm,Commo, Lync, etc.).
  84.     ChessMAGIC! is displaying board column numbers at row 80.

  87.     If running under Desqview, make certain that "manage printer contention"
  88.     is set to NO.  Gary Berg discovered the share violations on his LANtastic
  89.     system (The Rec Room) were caused by having this set to YES.

  93.     Make sure that the SHARE.EXE is between REDIR and the SERVER commands.

  99.     It must be noted that there is no longer an affiliation of KnightWare
  100.     and Decibel. KnightWare is the sole developer, distributor and support
  101.     center for the ChessMAGIC! product line. Support or inquiries are to be

  109.     This program is an enhanced version of CMSYS for you registered folks.
  110.     I've added a much nicer user interface, with data base browsing,
  111.     context sensitive help and improved performance. Also it must be noted
  112.     that the rating calculation algorithm and certain data base requirements
  113.     in ChessMAGIC! / CMSYS 2.01 or higher, are different than in the 1.xx
  114.     versions of ChessMAGIC!, CMSYS, and CMSED (CMSED system editor 
  115.     distributed by the Decibel Group).

  121.     I've made some considerable changes to version 2.01.  The major change
  122.     was eliminating the computer vs player. Not to worry, this is only
  123.     temporary and all my registered folks ( and anyone else registering
  124.     before Sept 30,1992 ) will be receiving it as soon as its available. 
  125.     I plan to make this available as a separate module.

  128.     All versions prior to 2.01 are no longer going to be supported. However 
  129.     all registered customers should take advantage of the free upgrade to 
  130.     2.01. All registered customers obtaining 2.01 will have their support
